Dear Spoken Word Friends,
Spring Is Here
Springtime is here, and with the coming of Spring, we have the planting of flowers. The children of First Baptist Church, Mount Olive planted lovely flowers to beautify the Spoken Word Ministries grounds. They planted two planters of flowers that greet visitors and volunteers as they approach our front door. The children also planted flowers in a planter under our sign. I had the privilege of speaking to the children a few moments before their work began. I talked about what our ministry does and what a valuable contribution they are making to our office and grounds.
I am delighted to share the pictures provided by Rev. Felicia Fox, the children's pastor of First Baptist. What a joy it is to see young children serving the Lord. I also appreciate the adults who were with them to teach such service.
Honduras Fund Reminder
You folks have been so very generous in support of our Honduras effort. We have enough money to pay for Suzanne's expenses, and perhaps some to help with other Honduras related expenses. We need no more donations for the 2009 Honduras trip. We do, however, request your prayers for the whole team especially during the July 17-27 time of the Honduras mission trip.
I will be teaching at the Servants Academy again this year. This year I will be teaching from around the period of the Exile to the time of the return to Jerusalem. This study will be another challenging endeavor which is why I also appreciate your prayers for that effort.
Braille Audio Still in Progress
I have been interrupted in the telling you of the vision and future work that we hope to accomplish through brailleaudio.org. I am waiting on plans from a developer which will move the site closer to development. Different ways of tackling the setting up of the site have different associated costs. I am working with a developer to figure out the most economical way of accomplishing all of our objectives. As you can imagine, this requires repeated emails and conversations to arrive at the best solutions. We could quickly spend hundreds of dollars or more and do something quickly, or we can take our time to plan the best course of action. I believe that most of our supporters would rather us take the latter course. I appreciate the diligent work that our developer has undertaken to walk through this process with us.
Learning Through Adversity
I first want to thank you for not only caring about our mission, but you also have concern for those who are working to accomplish the work of the mission. I appreciate your prayers not only for the work but also for those who are doing the work. In this case I would like to request prayer for my wife Becky Snyder. Some problems with kidney stones resurfaced that we hoped were gone for a long time and perhaps forever. She has also battled with sinus difficulties since October, 2008. Through a recent ten-day illness of my own, I learned how much understanding I lacked of what it is like to go through sickness. I really appreciate you joining with us in prayer for the total victory of health and healing especially for Becky at this time. We so often want to learn lessons through victories. Very often the Lord teaches us the lessons He wants us to learn through trials. May we stand through the trials and be a demonstrative people of faith!
More Tapes Needed for Honduras
We have received more than 5000 tapes for Honduras. These are tapes that have already been erased and logged in our records. You have done a great job of cleaning out your homes. Now I need you to clean out your churches of those used unwanted tapes that are just taking up valuable church space. I would like to make a one-man declaration pronouncing May 10 and May 17 to be "clean all of the used unwanted tapes out of your church" days. Just think, if we had 50 people to send 100 tapes from their churches, we would reach our goal. When mailing the tapes, tell the post office that you are mailing the tapes to an organization serving the blind and ask if you can mail the tapes "Free Matter for the Blind Or Handicapped." If this is permitted, you can save money. Please mail the tapes to our John Street address. I hope that all tapes can be posted on or before May 19. The sooner the better is the rule, as we will have to erase the tapes before boxing them for Honduras. Don't be shy. Please invite your friends to invite their churches to get involved with this project. Everybody wins. The church gets rid of its unwanted tapes that are taking up space, the church in Honduras receives tapes, and we all get to participate in what the Lord will do with those tapes in Honduras. Thanks again for the great support you have already given to this tape drive project.
Yours in His service,
Tim Snyder
